TAKE ACTION:Execution of Zeinab Jalilian Imminent

from: mission free iran

URGENT: Female Kurdish political prisoner Zeinab Jalilian has been moved to the enforcement section of the Islamic Republic’s detention facilities; her execution is deemed imminent.

Zeinab, 27, is from Maku, a city in the far northwest corner of Iran in province of West Azerbaijan.  She was arrested in May 2008 in Kermanshah and accused of ‘waging war against God’ (Mohareb) and belonging to the PKK (an outlawed political organization).

Her “trial,” in which she was denied legal defense, lasted about 5 minutes, reminiscent of the 1988 mass executions of thousands of political prisoners, for which there is now a demand to convene an international court to try the perpetrators.  Zeinab was sentenced to death in that sham trial and the sentence has been upheld. Originally imprisoned in Kermanshah prison, she was transferred to the detention center of the Ministry of Information in March 2010, and has now been moved to the “enforcement” section of the facility, signaling impending execution.

Here is 27-year old Zeinab Jalalian’s letter to the world, pleading for help:

Dear Human Rights Organisations:

My name is Ms Zeinab Jalalian. I am a 27-year-old Kurdish female political prisoner in prison in Iran. My death sentence was confirmed by the Iranian Supreme Court.

I am currently ill because of torture and I don’t have any lawyer to defend me. I want to tell you that my trial took only few minutes. The Court told me: “You are an enemy of God. You must be hanged very soon.” That was the sum of my entire court process. I asked the judge to give me permission to say good bye to my mother and family before my execution. He told me to “shut up” and rejected my request.

I dedicate this poem to Ehsan Fattahian and all the youngsters murdered by IR

English translation of a poem written in the 80′s, at the times of military dictatorship in Turkey. How relevant to Iran…
(Written by Gülten Akin, one of the most influential poets in Turkey today, and a co-founder of the Human Rights Organization in Turkey)

GROW UP

Grow up, and your father will,
Grow up and
He will buy you sufferings.
Grow up, and your father will
Grow up and
He will buy you indigences
Grow up and your father will, grow up and
He will buy you endless unemployments, starvations
Grow up and
Grow up and your father will buy you
Oppressions, tortures
Handcuffs, arrests, dungeons he will buy you
Grow up and
When you grow up and be seventeen
Grow up and your father will buy you
Executions.

GÜLTEN AKIN

The Rabbit’s Hat: A Game of the Iranian Dictatorship

Read here Farsi translation by @smokyhead, thanks to @lissnup

Today Mousavi and Karoubi have condemned the terrorist attack on IRGC. It seems to be a precaution step, before the false accusation of “collaboration with the enemy” is aired again from the side of the Islamic oligarchy.
The freedom seekers in Iran are often accused of treason and collaboration with foreign forces, by the regime. Their instinctive response is to to apologize: “No we are not!”
I wonder if the Iranian opposition understands what kind of a game the dictatorship is playing against them. I will use a funny story, -call this a joke- to try to explain this game:

The lion and the fox are sitting at their corner in the forest.

“I am so bored” says the lion.

“Me too”, says the fox. “I have an idea! Let’s go and beat up the rabbit to have some fun!”

“Come on,” says the lion, “what excuse do we have to beat up the rabbit?”

“Oh, it’s easy,” says the fox. We’ll knock on his door. When he opens, if he is wearing a hat, we’ll say ‘why the heck you have a hat!’ and beat him up. If he is not wearing a hat, we’ll say ‘why the fuck you don’t have a hat!’ and beat him up.

“Wow,” says the lion, “what a great plan! So let’s go and own him!”

The two go to the rabbit’s house and knock on his door. The rabbit opens, no hat on his head.

The fox says “Why the fuck you don’t have a hat!” They beat up the poor rabbit, having great fun.

A few days later, the lion and the fox are sitting again at their corner.

“I am so bored” says the lion.

“Me too,” says the fox. Let’s go and beat up the rabbit again”.

“Come on,” says the lion, “he alredy knows the trick.”

“No prob,” says the fox, “this time we’ll ask for a cigarette. If the rabbit gives us a cig with a filter, we’ll say ‘why the heck you give us a a cig with a filter’ and beat him up.  If he gives a cig without a filter, we’ll say ‘why the fuck you give us a cig without a filter’ and beat him up.”

“Wow,” says the lion, “you are so wise. Then let’s go and have some fun again.”

The two go again to the rabbit’s house and knock. The rabbit opens the door.

“Hey rabbit, do you have a cig for me?” asks the lion.

“Of course.” answers the rabbit, “But do you want it with a filter or without?”

The lion, shocked by the unexpected question, looks at the fox, confused.

“Rabbit!” shouts the fox, “why the fuck you don’t have a hat!”

This is exactly the game the Islamic oligarchy of Iran is playing against the Sea of Green. No matter what the opposition says or does, the dictatorship will accuse them of treason and collaboration with foreign forces or being responsible of earthquakes, or being aided by aliens from outer space. No answer will be the right answer. Whether the Greens have a hat or not, whether their cigarette is filtered or not, the regime will say anything to beat them, and they will stay in an apologetic position.
The only way for the freedom seekers in Iran to get out of this game is to stop playing it, having their own agenda, playing their own game.
